Book Dedications To Inspire You

Do you read book dedications? I think people tend to skip them unless they have a mention in them. I know I haven’t always read the dedication, but I read a few beautiful ones recently and now I’m hooked.  I usually read the dedication after I finish the book, it feels more insightful that way.

Here are a few great ones (the books are good too!):

Cheaper By the Dozen by Frank Gilbreth, Jr.  and Ernestine Carey (This is a great family movie and would be perfect for Thanksgiving weekend.)

The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne (This is especially interesting because Milne’s son Christopher Robin, after whom the book’s character was portrayed, had a love-hate relationship with his namesake.)

All Alone by Kevin Henkes. What a beautiful tribute to his mother.

Do you have a favorite book dedication?

  1. I don't know about favorite, but a "Cheaper" sequel was dedicated to their mother, "who deserves better."
